FORWARDS is now Family Arts Standards accredited! We're proud to be #FantasticforFamilies thanks to the Family Arts Standards.
Our dedicated Kids area at FORWARDS is about bringing families and friends together toexplore and play with curiosity, opening conversations to inspire the future of tomorrow! We want to make the festival experience as enjoyable as possible for everyone who is attendingin a group including children.
Along with all the activities on offer (which are all included in theprice of the festival ticket), you will also find the following facilities in and around the Kids Area:
- Children’s Toilets
- Baby Changing Facilities
- Kids Sensory Calm Space
- Shade / rain cover and space to chill out
- Children’s meals and snacks in The Team Canteen (with seating areas to sit and eat together)
And here are some of the fantastic organisations and fun-packed action to discover over the weekend:
Longstanding favourites The Flying Seagull Project return, whose expertise in play and laughter help to transform challenging environments across the globe into places where children can feel safe and happy. Expect circus fun galore.
Children can delve into an immersive universe with The Adventure Team or get lost in a world of bubbles and ball pools.
This fun action packed adventure allows children to use their imagination and create an unforgettable experience, in which they can encounter anything from superheroes, to fighting off aliens. Who knows where the world will lead.
One great activity for all the family to enjoy, is our mini crazy golf course hosted by Kiss my Putt.
Challenge the gang to a game. This one is certain to be popular, so get down early to find out who will be crowned the ultimate champion.
With a focus on sustainability and waste, our craft workshops offer the chance to use waste cardboard produced during the festival build process, to become creative pieces of art. Featuring Alexia Dobre, Let’s Make Art, Art playground and Junkfish. Our friends Badge Badgers will of course be there to fulfill all badge making needs.
We’re very excited this year to feature a recently launched community project, The Pony Farm Bus, that strives in delivering community based food workshops and demonstrations to share the knowledge of where our food comes from and promote healthier food choices. Touch, taste and smell their herb garden, whilst dusting off those pizza making skills!
Twisted Theatre, a collective of creative artists located in Bristol, will return hosting theatrical games and surprises at their Motel. Anticipate costumes, dance and love, that might even lead to something secret. Only one way to find out. Don’t miss out on the closing party at the venue!

Returning again this year are Diverse Artist Network, hosts of DIASPORA!, providing activities with an aim to develop diversity within the arts and cultural sector.
Last year we saw steel drumming workshops, collaborative dance and storytelling. Come and check out what's in store for this year.
Children who would like to exercise their love for music, will again be able to collaborate with Access Creative College, who aid in the exploration of the differing sounds of various musical instruments and DJ equipment.
There will be a dedicated sensory calm space provided by Diverse UK located within the Kids Area, to reduce overstimulation, support emotional regulation, and help children decompress. Be sure to ask our Kids Area Coordinator for the location.
