DIVERSE ARTIST NETWORK

In the kids’ area, the Diverse Artists Network — a development agency championing diversity, cultural competency, and representation in the arts — will present a vibrant programme of hands-on workshops celebrating creativity, culture, and community. From midday to early evening, young participants can explore activities led by talented local and international artists: creative crafts with Ruth Ramsay & Karen Chard, spoken word with Solomon OB, magical storytelling with mermaid Carol Sherman, the joyful rhythms of steelpan with Alphonse Daudet Touna, energetic drumming with AFIDANCE, and dances from across the African diaspora with Penny Marie. These sessions are designed to spark imagination, build confidence, and introduce children to a rich spectrum of artistic traditions, reflecting the network’s mission to connect and empower diverse voices in the arts.

PREVIOUS SOCIAL INITIATIVES

We have Campus Skateboarding in our Kids Area this year. With a team of dedicated instructors on hand, and safety and skateboarding equipment, it's the perfect chance for any kids who have been wanting to give it a shot, to try it out.
Founded in 2011, the non-profit organisation has utilised the positive energy and the influence of skateboarding to engage with children and young people.

The Eastside Community Trust and Felix Road Adventure Playground unleashed complete creativity recently, designing artworks to display at this year's festival - keep an eye out on site for the installations, designed by children themselves.

Access Creative College will be joining us again this year, hosting "Busker's Corner", where young ones can brush up on their musical skills and play with instruments, before taking to the stage with an open-mic performance on The Bandstand!

Sign up in advance (link coming soon) or on the day at the Access Creative College tent, located in the kids area. Please be sure to bring any backing music on a usb if required.
